Geek Brief TV # 261

The announcement of the Amazon Kindle was not exactly a surprise. News has leaked for a while now. We do not know until Steven Levy's Newsweek piece [1] are the details. The Kindle was at an event this morning was announced and the way they announced the Amazon.com website shows an open letter from Jeff Bezos. Now it is available, you can run through this link [2]. I went ahead with a copy to you. My Kindle is coming tomorrow, and of course, I'll make a review. The letters261, speak of the details and their potential to be adopted by many. Mike Arrington speculates [3], the latest e-book readers, like Sony did not understand, because the lack of wireless connectivity. He may be right, but I think it's more about the availability of books and most importantly - price. My suggestion is that Amazon turn the power available at low cost or free, in exchange for a one year contract ... something like that, like Audible.com Otis has returned with your MP3 playerIn the early days. I look forward to on the Kindle, but I fear it is the user interface. Watch the videos [4] at Amazon.com and see what I mean. My guess is that you like it to be developed by Apple, but we'll see tomorrow. Links: ------ [1] www.newsweek.com [2] www.amazon.com [3] www.techcrunch.com [4] www.amazon.com
